Welcome to Next Step Strategies, where every step forward is a leap towards independence. We are a  Medicaid K-Plan developmental disability service provider operating as a nonprofit public charity dedicated to empowering individuals with neurodiversity or developmental disabilities to achieve their highest level of independence and enhanced quality of life.

Next Step Strategies, Inc (NSS) was founded by Ann Wilkinson, PhD. In 2019, a parent who needed to abruptly end her professional career to care for her own son. The desire to create caregiving as a career path with compensation and benefits as closely aligned with other professional careers is the core belief of Next Step Strategies.  By helping parents care for their own children and supporting them as they build the right team to support their child, we see a stronger lifetime plan develop. Next Step Strategies firmly believes the best supports are based on choice, not directives and works hard to help staff see the value in offering choice as our preferred strategy.

When you work for Next Step Strategies, you share the vision of what can be next for living a life of choice as Next Step Strategies supports WeBUILT communities as alternatives to group homes or isolated housing.  WeBUILT is a place where sensory and social needs can be met in the form of an inclusive intentional community with natural supports built in to help all residents participate at their highest level of choice and independence.
